ORSAM North Africa Studies Coordination closely monitors the political, economic and social developments in the Red Sea and Maghreb region, while addressing the interactions in the Horn of Africa and Sahel belt from a holistic perspective. Its main areas of focus are governance, security, terrorism, social transformations and the impact of global actors on the countries of the region.
Through its strong network of local experts, think tanks and policy makers in the countries of the region, the coordinatorship conducts in-depth, policy-oriented research and provides analysis and recommendations to decision makers, academia and the public. By comprehensively assessing the region’s vulnerabilities and strategic transformation processes, the studies aim not only to understand current developments, but also to anticipate the long-term trends taking shape in North Africa and its periphery.
