History of migration is, in a sense, the history of humanity. Nevertheless, the second half of the first millennium is particularly important in terms of the history of migration, as the aforesaid period witnessed important migration movements, whose impacts have still been observed. During this period, one of the important migration movements especially shaping today's world, and Europe and the US in particular is the fact that western countries brought millions of people from various places of the world to Europe and the US as a result of the slave trade, which lasted for some 300 years, as of 15th century. After the prohibition of slave trade, this time as pauper labour, people from Asia, Africa and Caribbeans continued to be brought to Europe and US, and the majority of them settled in the countries they lived in.
