Conference on Turkey’s Democracy Experience and 15 July Coup Attempt

Assoc. Dr. Kudret Bülbül, Head of Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, gave a conference on “Turkey’s Democracy Experience and 15 July Coup Attempt,” within the framework of ORSAM’s annual Middle East Summer Schools program. This year, 160 students attended the Ankara leg of the ORSAM Summer School program, which was held at TED University, with the support of the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Moreover, students participating the Middle East Specialization Academy, organized by ORSAM with the assistance of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, attended this conference as well.

President Assoc. Dr. Kudret Bülbül has defined “New Turkey” as a country, which has increasingly come to harmonize with its geography, history and society and has referred to the economic developments achieved thanks to this deep political transformation. Furthermore, he has also given detailed information on the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities’ activities illustrating their working methods and target groups.

President Assoc. Dr. Kudret Bülbül drew a picture of what happened on the night of 15 July, by referring to the previous coup d’états experienced in Turkey. Then, he analyzed the evolution of FETÖ in historical process, its operating methods, its objects and interests and what they have done so far in detail, with personal examples from his life and experiences. Assoc. Dr. Kudret Bülbül suggested the audience to visit the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to take notes and photos and be witness to the history. He concluded his speech, by giving information concerning the details of the State of Emergency regulations, and international connections and results of attempted military coup. Conference was concluded with answers to the students' questions.
